Via: Gorilla vs. BearAnyone who read my review today knows that I <3 Marissa Nadler. So, needless to say, I was pleased to come across this post at Gorilla vs. Bear that shows Nadler is just as against today's Hallmark conspiracy as I am:
"Valentine's Day is the worst holiday ever. It makes lonely people feel really bad about themselves. Well, really it's just a Hallmark holiday, but it still makes me feel bad every year."
Oh, and there's also two songs to check out, "Your Heart Is a Twisted Vine" and "Last Thoughts on Woodie Guthrie." The latter, which puts the Bob Dylan poem of the same name to music, was described by Nadler as follows:
"The poem is pretty intense. . .the song then flows into an Anne Sexton verse from 'Her Kind' and then a couple lines from Pablo Neruda. This is what happens during whiskey winter weather when winds weaken the warrior princess."

FYI - Marissa's new album isn't out yet. It got pushed back to March 22nd if my memory of our conversation serves me correctly. The single, however, is out on the release date you have listed in your review. I hope people pay attention to this album since people have been sleeping on her past work for far too long now.
