Marilyn Manson Plays Provokateur for Spin

The hangman, the effigy, the pariah, the scapegoat. That's what Marilyn Manson calls himself in the new Spin--and his word is bond.

In a conversation that channels both G.G. Allen and Nietzsche, Manson delivers a number of amoral diatribes on destroying himself with drugs, as wanting to murder his ex-girlfriend, and cutting himself every time said ex-girlfriend won’t answer the phone (158 times in one day).

Manson cashes in hard on the “live hard, die hard” cliché, saying, “I'm happy to live in hotel, as long as I can feed my cat, get beautiful girls to do terrible things they shouldn't do with me, and pay for absinthe and drugs -- that's rock'n'roll.”

He also addresses the subject of the eight-grader who said “Hail Marilyn Manson” and then shot his teacher last week. Manson’s response? “I'm not saying I agree with it, but I'm not saying I don't agree with it.”

Manson’s label wants him to take the song “Pretty as a Swastika” off the new record. He defends the song. “I'm not saying anything about Hitler, the Holocaust, or Nazis. I'm not trying to be a pussy and say, ‘Oh, it's a Hindu symbol.’ Of course I know what it means. I'm saying you're as pretty as a Swastika, art is a fucking question mark, you fill in the blanks.”

He’s happy about his upcoming tour with Slayer, but not because of the band’s music. “I haven't met anyone except Hunter S. Thompson and the guys in Slayer that can keep up with me when it comes to my intake of destructive forces. I try to make my body a place where drugs are afraid to live.” [Spin via The Daily Swarm]

i give this article a 1/10, go to spin and read the entire interview because Jenna Humphrey clearly couldnt be bothered with reading into what manson was actually saying and clearly doesnt get his sense of humor
