After testing out new material on the road earlier this year, indie rock posterboy Stephen Malkmus is putting those fresh tunes to tape. He recently posted on his website that tracking for the new album is "67.4685% completed." Can't tell if the old trickster is being serious or joking when he ways he's working on the new album in "Northern Montana" where "the bears were just coming out of hibernation." In other SM news, he reports that his gig at the Pitchfork Festival this summer will be a solo one, since current Jicks drummer Janet Weiss will be playing drums on Bright Eyes' massive tour.
