Mac McCaughan rocks Congress!
I've written many a times on this site about how cool Mac McCaughan is. His resume includes founding the bands Superchunk, Portastatic, and the record label Merge Records, which is currently on the cusp of the indie rock ascendancy as home to Arcade Fire and Spoon. Now you can add to McCaughan's renown the tag of social crusader. McCaughan appeared today (October 24) before the Senate Commerce Committee, which was undertaking hearings on the subject of commercial radio regulation. McCaughan urged the committee to not pass measures that would allow big corporations like Clear Channel to gobble up even more radio stations than they already control. You can read all that McCaughan had to say here. So how about taking a break from scouring the web to see if In Rainbows will indeed get a traditional label release to do your civic duty of finding out what your government is up to?
