Everyone's favorite carefree, quirky musical figure, Mac DeMarco, stopped in at the A.V. office to perform Weezer's "Undone—The Sweater Song". Part 4 in the series of 25 songs in which the A.V. Undercover provides for the musician/band to choose from, the Canadian picked the 1994 Ric Ocasek-produced song because it was probably the easiest to learn on a two hour drive. In his wacky idiosyncratic style, DeMarco infuses boozy amusement to Weezer's classic tune.
The A.V. Club news reminded me of that time when DeMarco was in Portland to open for Phoenix. On an unseasonably warm Saturday before Easter, with a pink box conataing a Cock-N-Balls from Voodoo Doughnut, we took him on a short walking tour through downtown before soundcheck. The video was unplanned and edited on the same night. My main regret is that we didn't have time for the economy-label beer drinker to sample one our famous brews.
Mac and the boys are on their European leg of the tour (returning to US for one date - on May 1 to open for Phoneix in San Francisco) with several festival stops, including The Great Escape in Brighton, UK and Primavera Sound in Barcelona in May.
