Some bands just like to keep themselves busy, and it looks like M83's one of them. Despite constant touring behind last year's critically acclaimed album, Hurry Up, We're Dreaming, the band announced today that it will be scoring a new sci-fi film called Oblivion.
The movie stars Tom Cruise and will be directed by Joseph Kosinski (Tron: Legacy). It is set to start shooting next month in Iceland, with an April 2013 release date.
The French electro outfit's frontman, Anthony Gonzalez, recently moved to Los Angeles to pursue film scoring and told The Playlist, "I'm not afraid to do my first soundtrack on a big Hollywood movie, with a big budget and a lot of pressure," adding, "I like challenges and it excites me more than it frightens me."
