In one of the more ironic pieces of news today, noted Luddite M. Ward has launched his own app for the iPhone, reports his label Merge. It goes hand-in-hand with his love of radios by allowing "users to locate nearly 1,000 of Matt’s [M. Ward's] favorite independent and public radio stations across the country." The database is searchable alphabetically and by state, and you can listen to the station live.
Of course, this partially stems from his 2005 album Transistor Radio which was dedicated to “the last of the remaining independent radio stations.” Ward developed the app after finding it a challenge to listen to local radio while on tour. You can grab the free app--fittingly named after his most recent album, A Wasteland Companion--at the iTunes store.
