Apparently television producers have taken the hint from the success of soundtracks for the "O.C." and "Gossip Girl," because the guy who created both of those shows has now created a new show where "indie music" will play a prominent part. Josh Schwartz and executive producer/music supervisor Alex Patsavas responsible for the creation of "Rockville, CA," set to premiere on TheWB.com in 2009.
The show's basic format is that each week, a different band will play the fictional club Rockville and teenage, angsty life will take place around them. Bands already scheduled to appear include Lykke Li, Passion Pit, Frightened Rabbit, Eagles of Death Metal, The Kooks, White Lies, The Duke Spirit, Earlimart, Phantom Planet, the Little Ones, and Nico Stai.
About the show, Pastavas said, "Fictional or not, we are going to make 'Rockville' the hottest indie music venue on the web." Make sure you step away from your computer before you vomit, target demographic.
