Lupe Fiasco The Cool
Atlantic
Advance word on Lupe Fiasco's second album described The Cool as a concept album. However, "concept album" may be a stretch. True, there are characters ("The Streets" and "The Game") and there is a narrative ("The Cool" navigates a world dictated by the aforementioned two). However, a concept album suggests something cohesive and consistent. In spite of the mountains of hype he has received, Lupe has yet to deliver completely. That said, we can expect an album of solid rhymes and thoughts from a talented emcee who is still finding his feet.

Lupe himself said it isn't a concept album. Five songs from the album are connected to the story of "The Cool" from his first album. That being said, it's better than his first.
