On Friday night, Kanye West released his newest G.O.O.D. Fridays track, “Don’t Stop,” featuring guests Lupe Fiasco and Pharrell. It marks the first time in a while anyone’s heard new music from the trio, also known as Child Rebel Soldier, and seeing as their forthcoming album has apparently been shelved, it was refreshing to hear that the three were still working together.
However, in an interview posted to MTV’s website, Lupe revealed the song is actually a few years old, stemming back from when the trio was part of West’s Glow in the Dark tour. “The song is two years old,” Lupe told MTV. “I think ‘Ye verse might be a little recent, but I don’t know.”
As disappointing as the news may be, it’s still exciting that these once thought “lost” tracks are finally seeing the light of day.
