The twenty-second annual South by Southwest Music Conference and Film Festival will kick off with a keynote address by former Velvet Underground frontman and current Killers collaborator Lou Reed. The speech will be accompanied by a screening of Julian Schnabel’s documentary Lou Reed’s Berlin. Other confirmed presenters include Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth, Darryl Hall of Hall and Oates, and Seymour Stein, the former president of Sire Records credited with breaking acts such Talking Heads, Depeche Mode, the Pretenders, Madonna, and the Smiths. The South by Southwest Music Conference and Film Festival will take place in Austin, Texas on March 12-16, with more than fifteen hundred acts hitting stages all around the city.
