When a new Wim Wenders film surfaces there’s usually a guarantee that he’ll have rounded up some maverick musical talents for their involvement. Wenders famously directed the Buena Vista Social Club and cast Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds in his best feature, Wings of Desire. Let’s just try to forget about his Bono produced flop The Million Dollar Hotel.
The German director has a new feature in production, titled Palermo Shooting, and it’s set to a soundtrack featuring Grinderman, Will Oldham, Iron & Wine, and Portishead. Krautrock fans will also have their appetites sated, as Can’s Irmin Schmidt has composed the score for the feature. Palermo Shooting stars Dennis Hopper and the singer with German punks Die Toten Hosen, Andreas “Campino” Frege. But the most memorable sequence will surely be Lou Reed’s cameo. According to this Pitchfork article Reed’s brief turn will be set to “Some Kinda Love” from the Velvet underground’s third album.
