Lou Reed gets Sirius

It seems like Lou Reed is really stepping out of his shell lately, what with finally getting married to to longtime paramour Laurie Anderson, and now signing on to host his own satellite radio show on Sirius. Before we go any further, we'd like to sincerely thank the folks at said station for not demanding that the program be called "Lou Reed's Satellite of Love."

That said, one can't help but wonder if someone at Sirius said "Okay, Bob Dylan's already done his own radio show. Where can we find another grizzled, laconic, cantankerous, '60s-New York-school rock icon? Oh Louuuuu..."

Apparently Reed will be hosting "New York Shuffle" Saturdays at 6pm ET, starting tomorrow, alongside buddy/producer Hal Willner. Now there's no doubt that Willner's brain is probably already teeming with ideas for artists and tunes he'd like to share with the world, but, um...does Reed even like music? Other than Jimmy Scott and maybe Laurie Anderson? Yeah, yeah, he's a big doo wop fan, right. "Hal, here's a Moonglows song I used to like in 1960. Wrap a playlist around it." Mind you, that doesn't mean we won't be all ears tomorrow at 6. Well, we would be if we had satellite...
