One might think from their name that the band Los Campesinos! is a rock en Espanol act along the lines of Kinky or Plastilina Mosh. But the big, mixed girl/guy band is actually from England, where they're students at Cardiff University. Pretty good pedigree, no? Because there's a great history of "fuckin' stoodent" (to quote a Gallagher brother) bands from across the pond.
Los Campesinos! have now signed to Canadian label Arts and Crafts. The label will handle the North American release of the band's EP Sticking Fingers into Sockets, slated to come out July 3. Among the EPs six songs will be "We Throw Parties, You Throw Knives," which has received much love in the U.K. You can stream some of the band's music at their MySpace. For now, Los Campesinos! only have two North American appearances scheduled: July 27 at the Hillside Festival in Guelph, Ontario and August 5 at Lollapalooza in Chicago.
