Last year was a busy one for the Long Blondes. After inking a deal with Rough Trade in April, the Sheffield fivesome released its debut LP, Someone to Drive You Home, in the U.K. in November, to much critical acclaim (from this site included).
Thankfully, it doesn't look like calendar-turning has had any effect on the band's work ethic/ambition, because it's only January 10 and the band already has released a video for new single "Giddy Stratospheres." Out officially on February 5 (with B-sides exclusives produced by Erol Alkan), the song's a sparkling, euphoric disco nugget that's catchy as a cold.
Weigh in with your thoughts on the members getting all Blondie in the video. Gigantic disco balls = too much or just enough?
P.S. We're still wondering why they don't yet have a U.S. release date for the twenty-seventh best record of 2006. Honestly, rec execs, what gives?
