The buzziest of current buzz bands, Local Natives, took to KCRW's "Morning Becomes Eclectic" last week for a lengthy interview and set from their debut, Gorilla Manor. Because the show is shot in a sterile studio, it's interesting to see how much added percussion work these guys toss in into try to replicate the sound of the studio versions. The first song performed is the stellar "Airplanes," but fast forward to the 18 minute mark for an especially fantastic take of "Wide Eyes." It's like Grizzly Bear and Fleet Foxes had a baby with ironic mustaches.
Gorilla Manor is out now.
These guys are great! Very upset I slept on those tickets for their Chicago shows. You snooze, you lose.
the grizzly*fleet foxes interaction + ironic mustaches is a really good way to summarize what Im hearing from gorilla manor.. they sound pretty great live, which I didn't necessarily expect after hearing the studio output..
