LL Cool J, The Stooges, ABBA and KISS lead 2010 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Nominees

The annual discussion of who belongs in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is about to commence, as the short list of 12 nominees has been announced. Amongst the nominees are The Stooges (who are overdue), KISS (ditto), ABBA (probably), Genesis (no way), Donna Summer (uh, maybe?) Red Hot Chili Peppers (only on this list for the hall to stay "relevant") and LL Cool J (given his recent turn on NCIS: Los Angeles, and the hall's cagey relationship with hip-hop, I'd say he's in for sure).

The induction goes down sometime next spring. Here's the full list for your arguin' and a-fightin' purposes:

ABBA
Darlene Love
Donna Summer
Genesis
Jimmy Cliff
KISS
Laura Nyro
LL Cool J
Red Hot Chili Peppers
The Chantels
The Hollies
The Stooges

there are a lot of bands to consider, I think KISS should be considered - Love em or hate em, you can't deny everything they've accomplished

Yeah, I think KISS are going to be in this year or next; they're too big of a movement to keep out. They need them for the ratings.

Donna Summer
* FIRST female singer to have a #1 album and #1 single on the Billboard charts simultaneously — a feat she accomplished again just a few months later, breaking her own record.
* FIRST artist to have three #1 double albums on the Billboard charts consecutively with Live and More, Bad Girls, and On the Radio. (she still remains the only female artist and solo act with this accomplishment).
* FIRST female solo artist with three #1 hits in a one year period, topping the charts with the singles “Hot Stuff,” “Bad Girls” and “No More Tears (Enough Is Enough)” – a duet with Barbara Streisand.
* FIRST artist to achieve Gold status with a 12 inch for her single “No More Tears (Enough Is Enough).”
* FIRST artist ever to be given a Grammy for the category “Best Rock Female Vocal Performance” for her Platinum single “Hot Stuff.”
* FIRST artist ever to be given a Grammy for the category “Best Dance Recording” for her song “Carry On.”
* FIRST group of artists to be inducted into the Dance Music Hall of Fame in 2004, alongside The Bee Gees and Barry White.

Out of the 12 nominated only KISS, ABBA, and Genesis should go in.

What about Deep Purple, Alice Cooper, Rush, Yes, Hall & Oates, Jim Croce, Journey, and Styx???
