Liz Phair has already danced on the grave of her former credibility many times over, so it isn't too jarring to see her selling herself for a Banana Republic ad. It's just really, really boring. Phair talks a lot about traveling, and her need to be comfortable on said travels, which I guess is where Banana Republic comes in.
Banana Republic is giving away Exile in Guyville's "Never Said" here, and the song is included on a compilation that also includes OK Go and Dashboard Confessional that is free with any purchase at Banana Republic stores. [Stereogum]
Gives the expression, "Who the f**k cares?" new meaning.
I just ordered 5 pair of women's pants.
So it's possible to do an exciting ad for clothing?? Jeez does it have to be Oscar caliber? If Liz is selling herself so the hell is everyone else. Cat Power all over TV ads, Springsteen at the Super Bowl, I could on and on. GET OVER IT!!
bs
Terrible ad.
agree with 'bs'... GET THE HELL OVER IT AND TAKE YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR FRIGGEN FLANNEL INDIE ASS. IT'S NOT 1994 ANYMORE!
when Feist sells ipods she's participating in a "new way to make people aware of her music". if Liz does it she's a commercial whore "again"... the double standards are endless!! GO F YOURSELF.
rex
Man, this ad is AWFUL!
Liz Phair can do whatever the hell she wants.
