Little Dragon Explains Failed Big Boi Collaboration

For some time it was assumed that Swedish pop outfit Little Dragon would guest on Big Boi's "Mama Told Me," taken from his forthcoming solo LP, Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors. Footage circled the net of the group in the studio together last year, and Big Boi and the band's lead vocalist Yukimi Nagano even performed the song live in Austin back in August.

However, with the OutKast MC debuting the final "Mama Told Me" single earlier this week, it was clear that Little Dragon had been dropped from the track and Kelly Rowland had been enlisted as the replacement. To clear the air, a representative of Little Dragon issued the following statement, citing "business terms" as the cause of the failed collaboration:

It is true that Little Dragon made the "Mama Told Me" track with Big Boi and even performed it live in Austin for The Fader. The whole collaboration was an amazing creative experience. Unfortunately, business terms out of our control got in the way, and an agreement couldn't be reached in time for our version of the track to be released. At least new friendships were made, and we want to wish Big Boi good luck with the album. We look forward to collaborating with him in the future.

"Mama Told Me" serves as the lead single from Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors, which is due out Nov. 13 via Purple Ribbon/Def Jam.
