Lists: NPR puts together the perfect 6:00 AM wake up call

When I think of something high energy to get me going in the A.M., NPR doesn’t necessarily spring to mind. It seems, however, that the good folks who bring you All Songs Considered, Mountain Stage, and some really sweet concert podcasts know a thing or two about putting a little spark to the morning routine. Lars Gotrich offers an eclectic selection that ranges from Iggy and the Stooges to Screaming Females and "Japanese lords of the psychedelic freak-out" High Rise. The author also gets major props for including the impeccably named Ninety Pound Wuss and name checking Wham!, whose "Wake Me Up Before You Go Go" is in a class by itself. I would also include "I Got You Babe," which woke up Bill Murray countless times in Groundhog Day, as a sentimental favorite. [NPR]
