Listen: Yasiin Bey (Mos Def) Releases “Niggas In Poorest” Honoring MLK Jr. Day

In honor of today being Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Yasiin Bey (formerly known as Mos Def) has released a brand-new track that finds him rapping over Kanye West and Jay-Z’s grandiose “Ni**as in Paris.” The track in question, “Ni**as in Poorest,” is a lo-fi, reverb-drenched, and fist-pumping anthem that’s just as political as it is experimental. It’s also slightly playful and apparently kicks off Bey’s upcoming “Top 40 Underdog” series that will feature him rapping over some of the hottest tracks of the moment. Whoa, could this be an all-out Internet assault by the man previously known as Mos Def? Stream “Ni**as in Poorest” below. [SC]
