Listen to Tom Waits And Keith Richards Duet On Johnny Depp’s Pirate-Themed Compilation

If Tom Waits was a pirate, his pirate name would be “Scurvy of the Throat,” and he’d defeat foes by simply performing Real Gone in its entirety. But alas, he’s not a pirate, and neither is Keith Richards (though he did play one on TV); so we’ll have to make do with the two of them staging their best whiskey-soaked, hygiene-deficient, sex-starved buccaneer impressions for the Johnny Depp-curated compilation, Son of Rogue’s Gallery: Pirate Ballads, Sea Songs and Chanteys.

Conceived by Depp, Pirates of the Caribbean director Gore Verbinski, and producer Hal Willner, Son of Rogue’s Gallery (a follow-up to 2006’s Rogue’s Gallery) features the talents of Patti Smith, Michael Stipe, Iggy Pop, Nick Cave, Broken Social Scene, and many, many more. The two-disc album is due out Feb. 19 on Anti- records.

Listen to Waits and Richards cover the classic 19th century sailor song, “Shenandoah” below.
