Dismiss whatever feelings you had about Scarlett Johansson based on her album of Tom Waits covers and her Break Up record with Pete Yorn. Here, George Gershwin’s “Summertime” is reworked by the actress/singer and 3D of Massive Attack. It’ll be featured alongside work by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis and Atticus Ross and Shigeru Umebayashi as part of the soundtrack for director Everardo Valerio Gout’s upcoming movie, Days of Grace.
The vocals might sound a little lost in the electronic storm that builds throughout the track, but it sounds only fitting for a thriller set in Mexico City. It was produced by 3D and Tim Goldsworthy of DFA. Listen to this great take on “Summertime” below.
