Listen: R.E.M. Guitarist Peter Buck Releases Solo Track, “10 Million BC”

We already know there’s a solo album from former R.E.M. guitarist Peter Buck due, and now Slicing Up Eyeballs has provided us with an idea of how it will sound. This radio rip of a song titled “10 Million BC” was debuted on WFMU by former Dream Syndicate frontman Steve Wynn. It’s an enjoyable piece of ‘60s garage pastiche, with Buck slipping into a Lux Interior-style vocal that is likely to surprise even his most ardent fans. The song devolves into plinky barroom piano toward the end, perfectly adding to this fun genre exercise. Check it out below.
