Phony Ppl, a collective comprised of MCs and beatmakers like Dyme-a-Duzin, Sheriff PJ, Elbee Thrie and Aja Grant, have collaborated with hip-hop all-stars, like Peanut Butter Wolf and Q-Tip. The collective — "a rap crew, a songwriting/production team, a live band, and a group of friends who live to make music," according to their Bandcamp — has an EP out now called Nothing Special, and the highlight of the album is a collaboration with Theophilus London called "Morning After Pill." It's a jittery, multilayered track that repeatedly compares a hookup to Christmas morning, and it ends with an extended bout of scatting you have to hear to believe.
