Listen: Memory Tapes Shares Epic “Neighborhood Watch”

On Dec. 4, Memory Tapes–a.k.a. Davye Hawk–will put out Grace/Confusion via Carpark Records, Hawk’s third LP and the follow-up to last year’s Player Piano. This time around, Hawk decided to focus on longer playing times–Grace/Confusion boasts only six tracks, but it clocks in at nearly forty minutes.

Today, Hawk shares “Neighborhood Watch,” which kicks off the record in dramatic fashion. Over the course of nearly six dramatic minutes, the song cycles through guitar-centric indie rock before sprinting towards the finish line with an atmospheric beat and a dance-pop heart. Hawk calls his music “pop music as field recordings,” and with this track, he more than lives up to that assessment. Take a listen below.
