The interest in Janelle Monae intensified following the release of The ArchAndroid in 2010, which was bolstered by some supremely confident live shows. The singer has some bold plans for a follow-up, apparently recording two full-length records that she hopes to release before the end of the year.
On Friday Monae played at the Toronto Jazz Festival, where she previewed some new material, including songs titled “Electric Lady” and “Dorothy Dandridge Eyes.” The latter is of course a reference to the legendary singer and actress, whom Monae honors with a slow-burning soul ballad.
Both tracks have been ripped and uploaded to Soundcloud from the Toronto show, check them out below. [via FACT]
