For those who don't already know, early-'80s NYC underground outfit Liquid Liquid are to the Rapture, Radio 4, et al as Sun-sessions Elvis Presley is to a Stray Cats tribute band. The O.G.'s of US punk-funk only put out four EPs/12"'s during their brief lifetime (other sources say three, but most folks conveniently forget 1984's Dig We Must, recorded after bassist Richard McGuire left).
Originally released on seminal NY label 99 Records (ESG, Bush Tetras, Konk), the first three records were compiled on a CD in '97 by the Beastie Boys' Grand Royal label, but it went out of print soon after. Since then, a bevy of 12" remixes by DJ Shadow and others have popped up, but at last, Domino is set to make the originals available again, along with a bunch of previously unreleased cuts, as Slip In And Out Of Phenomenon.
Once again, the world will be able to hear what "Cavern" sounded like before it was illegitimately appropriated by Grandmaster Flash for "White Lines." The lawsuit this action inspired eventually put 99 out of business, but now their legacy lives again (at least in the UK, where release is set for May 19, no US date so far).

Great band, great cover art. I yearn to hear "Bellhead" right now.
