Feb. 9, 2009. That's when Lily Allen's second album is supposed to come out, according to Billboard, who got the news from Lilz herself on her MySpace. The tabloid favorite's first album could never quite outrun the sense of its creation, that test tube quality of carefully crafted listenability. What's that even mean, though? Somewhere in America, there are 514,000 people who made the decision to buy Alright, Still. For her part, Allen's telling her MySpace blog like it is. "I am trying really hard to do this album with integrity and I want you all to know that it has been thought about by me, not just some thrown together last minute industry bullshizz." Where will she be amongst the New Amys and sudden soul queens? [Billboard]

I'm not holding out too much promise, but it is encouraging to hear her at least say she is trying to make something genuinely decent.
