Lily Allen Not Quitting Music, Is Quitting Download Debate

The least surprising news of the week is that Lily Allen appears to have already reneged on her decision to quit music. It only took about 24 hours of behind-the-scenes scrambling from Allen and her people, but her publicist has already issued a statement saying she is not giving up on her music career.

 

"Lily is not retiring from music,” her spokesperson said. “She is still promoting her current album which is why she said she is not thinking about her next record right now." The publicist, who probably deserves some kind of award for dealing with the notoriously fickle Allen, is no doubt used to such behavior from the singer.

 

Allen has also quit her campaign against illegal filesharers, saying via Twitter: "I'm proud of the fact that that I've been involved with this debate but I'm passing the baton on to other artists." So as one door reopens, another closes, and her cursory attempt at tackling such a major issue appears pretty feeble in retrospect.
