Lil Wayne’s proposed rock album, Rebirth, has already had its release date pushed back. But now it looks like the record may not surface at all, with the rapper allegedly having trouble persuading his bosses at Universal to release the album.
The first single from Rebirth, “Prom Queen,” has garnered a less-than healthy average rating of 2.56 on the Prefix scale, which doesn’t exactly bode well for the finished product. The song stalled at No. 15 on the Billboard Hot 100, a disappointment for Wayne after the soaring sales of last year’s Tha Carter III album.
This story on ContactMusic claims that Wayne’s manager, Cortez Bryant, is advising his client not to release the album, and gives a quote from an unnamed source who says: "If Wayne doesn’t brighten up, they have to turn into Mr. Evil Record Company and just tell him it’s never going to be released."
