Lil Wayne nominated for eight Grammys

The annual Grammys snoozefest looks set to be considerably enlivened this year, with artists such as Lil Wayne, M.I.A., Daft Punk, and No Age all nominated for awards. Lil Wayne has the most nominations (eight), closely followed by Coldplay (seven), Kanye West, Jay-Z and Ne-Yo (six), and Radiohead (five).

The actual winners on the night are likely to be Chris Martin’s band and the Grammy-friendly collaboration between Robert Plant and Alison Krauss. But with Tha Carter III registering as the biggest selling album of the year, it would be unwise of the Grammy panel to ignore Lil Wayne completely.

Another major talking point is the amount of British artists featured, with Duffy and Adele winning nominations alongside Plant, Coldplay and Radiohead. They will be expected to follow in the footsteps (musically, rather than personally) of Amy Winehouse, who won the best song, record, and new artist awards at this year’s ceremony. The Grammys are scheduled to air on February 8, 2009, and the full list of nominees can be found here.

How crazy would a Wayne/Radiohead collabo on the broadcast be?
