Lil Wayne Makes Court Appearance in Arizona

Lil Wayne is currently going through a painful courtroom ordeal in Arizona, where he has been charged on drug possession and weapons charges. The hip-hop star appeared in court yesterday (June 23) on charges relating to an arrest in January 2008, when U.S. Border Patrol officers allegedly found cocaine, ecstasy and a handgun on his tour bus.

Wayne’s lawyer is claiming that the dogs used in the bust weren’t adequately trained, rendering the search illegal. The rapper has pleaded not guilty in the case, which looks set to be an intriguing battle, with Wayne’s attorney claiming the U.S. Border Patrol hasn't provided records the defense requested some months ago.

The judge has postponed the trial until August 11, which creates a difficult scheduling conflict for Wayne. His Young Money tour with Young Jeezy, Drake and Soulja Boy will be underway at that point, although there is a gap in the scheduling between the August 9 date in Atlanta and the August 12 show in Phoenix.
