Libertines fans were filled with hope that the band would be on the road to a reunion following a surprise performance at a concert in London last weekend, but that hope is apparently wasted. Carl Barat, one half of the band's songwriting duo, has announced he is planning instead to work on a solo album. That's right, a solo album.
Barat did mention, however, that if a full-on reunion were to happen soon, next year is the earliest time they'd get back together to do anything bigger than their performance last weekend. So it'll be at least a year until anything serious could happen, and probably a week before the Sun or NME publishes some story insisting they'll be touring in a month. [Aversion]
