What are you doing sitting there so calmly? Leonard Cohen is coming! The 74-year-old singer/songwriter hasn't played in the states for 15 years, but come February 19, he'll give American fans a chance to renew their relationship with him. How will it happen? Just like in Leonard's song, "First We Take Manhattan." He'll begin by playing a special show, to which fan club members have been given early ticket access, at New York City's Beacon Theater. At this point, that's the only official date on the books, but it's been widely reported that Cohen will subsequently be launching a full U.S. tour, most likely sometime in the spring. So don't fret too much if your chances of seeing him at the Beacon are stomped on by a stampede of Raging Cohenheads, there's every reason to expect another chance in the very near future. If you want to try your luck, though, tickets go on sale Friday morning at 9 a.m.
I saw him play this summer in italy and was seriously impressed, he puts on an incredible show. i'd been a bit worried as other "living legends" have disappointed me in the past. but mr cohen was amazing.
there was a recent flurry of activity re: Mr Cohen in the UK press (covers on both Mojo and Uncut) so it's nice to see he's gonna be doing some (or at least one) date over here.
for those unfamiliar, skip over the usual 'hallelujah' and head straight to the desolation that is 'avalanche'.
Saw L.C on my 61st birthday in Brighton . Best night ever!! Hope he does a dvd of this concert cos it's a masterclass in how to give your audience what they came to see. Dance Me,The Future just for openers !!All the classics were there supported by a fantastic team of musicians and singers. THANKS Leonard for dropping by to little old Brighton and making my year.
