Just a few months ago, Lauryn Hillpleaded guilty to tax evasion charges, stemming from unpaid federal taxes (totaling $1.8 million) from the years 2005-2007. She could face up to three years in prison for those crimes, but now Hill's predicament has gotten even worse.
According to TMZ, the state of New Jersey is suing the former Fugees singer for unpaid state taxes, totaling over $440,000. This state tax issue is not a criminal matter yet, but it could be if Hill decides to evade these as well.
All told, Hill owes over $2.2 million to various governments as a result of these cases. She's scheduled for sentencing in the federal tax case in November.
