The mix series offered by Oki-Ni has thrown up some fascinating work in the past, including contributions from James Ferraro, Twin Shadow, Dam-Funk, Derrick Carter and Ford & Lopatin. The latest artist to present a mix for the company is the Brooklyn-based electronic musician Laurel Halo, whose effort is titled Seasons.
"Seasons is named after the DJ Godfather track at the beginning -- in it this heartbreaking chord progression supports an equally heartbreaking line... ‘it's like a summer koan, no-weather dread,’” she explains, although what that actually means is anybody’s guess.
The mix includes work by Slum Village, Lil' Kim, Surgeon and Raekwon. Read more about it here, and stream it in full in the clip below. [via FACT]
