Love her or hate her or love to hate her, Lana Del Rey refuses to go away. The mistress of provocation seems determined to remain on the radar, regularly offering tidbits like going nude for GQ and announcing her desire to write for film. Well, she's back at it. This time with an unreleased song, the ominous sounding "Backfire."
Compared to del Rey's much hyped, understated hit "Video Games" or even the cinematic title track to Born to Die, "Backfire" is fairly straightforward pop. The pouty singer is still crooning about her love for lawless bad boys, but the result reads less vintage femme fatale and more shiny Top 40.
Will "Backfire" be included on the "Paradise Edition" of Born to Die? If so, this will mark the fifth leaked track purported to be listed on the re-release (the other four were revealed in early August).
