Given her love of ’50s/’60s glamour, the announcement that Lana Del Rey will be the new face of H&M’s fall line comes as little surprise. The Swedish clothing retailer announced the news via its Twitter this morning, and H&M creative director Donald Schneider sat down with Women’s Wear Daily to chat about the line.
“The mood is very L.A. noir,” he said, and Del Rey will also be tapped to model the company’s winter collection. There are already a few shots of the singer donning a heavy pink cashmere sweater, grimacing in a way only a modeling Del Rey could. She will also sing Tony Bennet’s “Blue Velvet” for a short film that will be featured on H&M’s website on September 19, presumably the date that the collection opens for sale.
