Lady Sovereign breaks down onstage, reschedules show

Via: Pitchfork
On Wednesday night, Lady Sovereign was scheduled to perform at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles but things didn't quite go according to plan. A fan who was in attendance told Pitchfork that Sovereign seemed quite ill and "spit, kicked, and cried her way through two songs. She then left the stage abruptly a few times...she tried going through her songs '9 to 5' and 'Blah Blah' but stopped in the middle of both. She then completely broke down...bawling hysterically and falling to the ground...They practically dragged her off the stage as the crowd went insane. She never came back."
According to Sovereign's publicist this was all due to a chest infection, and that she was on stage against doctor's orders. Sov released a statement yesterday saying: "I hated disappointing everybody. The pain and frustration hurt so much, it was scary."
Another Los Angeles performance will be scheduled sometime in December to make up for everything, and should be announced sometime next week. In the meantime, there are no plans to cancel any further dates, as she had two days off in her schedule after the show anyway. The remaining dates are after the jump. 11-18 Las Vegas, NV - Beauty Bar
11-19 San Diego, CA - House of Blues
11-22 Dallas, TX - Gypsy Tea Room
11-23 Austin, TX - The Parish
11-24 Houston, TX - Meridian Red Room
11-26 New Orleans, LA - The Parish
11-27 Tallahassee, FL - Beta Bar

I saw her perform when she opened for the streets this summer in NYC and she sucked and blamed the sound system for sounding like crap. I think it must be hard being thrown into the spotlight like that when you're not quite ready.
