Lady Sov makes incomprehensible video, Jay-Z'''s job security decreases exponentially
Lady Sovereign "Love Me or Hate Me" (Video) (Windows Media)Thematically, this video would have made more sense for her single "Random." Much more sense. And the video for "Random" would have made more sense for this. Given the status of the music video as marketing tool, I couldn'''t imagine a worse way to introduce Lady Sovereign to the stateside mainstreamers. They obviously are not concerned with having a gimmick tag attached to her. Not only is she a five-foot, white, female rapper from the UK, but now she has the most bizarre video since the original version of Michael Jackson'''s ''"Black or White.''" Between the random Tetris reference at the beginning to the monkeys on the car to the hamster ghost, I can'''t follow this shit at all. But I still like the song, even if she abandoned the grime sound for the most part.

nah, ive always maintained the stance that while she would probably sell enough records to justify her spot on the def jam roster, she wouldnt be the superstar that would give jigga job security. if anything, i thought she was going to be a def jam left artist. if she is going to sell, then her album will be nothing like the material that generated buzz to begin with. and judging from the newer material, she is abandoning the grime sound and venturing into the world of pop.

Hmmm. Scans and all that have nothing to do with it. You said the video sucks and makes no sense. But all the images, the monkeys and the hamster and all that stuff, are referenced in the lyrics. If all that stuff had nothing to do with the song I'd take your point but if she's rapping about monkeys and hamsters what's wrong with having them in the video?Anyway, everyone seems to love the video. Even TRL fans. So you are so very wrong.
