The MTV EMAs happened last night (Nov. 7) and, as expected, there was really only one winner. Lady Gaga came away with three prizes at the awards ceremony, for Best Female Artist, Best Song (for “Bad Romance”) and Best Pop Act. Sadly, Gaga didn’t actually make it to Madrid for the ceremony, but did sport a number of outfits via a live link to the show.
The bulk of the 46 million people who voted also thought that Justin Bieber deserved to win Best Male Act, beating out Kanye West and Eminem, and proving that his inexorable march toward being some kind of new world leader is ever more inevitable. Kanye might live to regret that Bieber collaboration after all.
There were no real surprises at the ceremony—Katy Perry won big for “California Gurls” and showed up with new husband Russell Brand, and host Eva Longoria tried to spoof Lady Gaga’s meat dress by appearing dressed as a giant ham. Gaga is apparently not happy about the latter incident—“Why can’t she stop stealing my ideas?” she is quoted as saying, albeit via a very dubious tabloid source.
