Never above a publicity stunt, Lady GaGa has apparently gone back on her word about wearing fur. A few years back the singer/songwriter publicly stated, “I hate fur and I don’t wear fur.” In the last week, however, Gaga was spotted wearing a pink fur coat in New York and a white and grey one in Bulgaria. Not to mention the poster for Machete Kills (left), in which Gaga wears pretty much an entire wolf.
PETA, of course, has pounced on the situation. A senior VP at the animal rights organization said, “these recent photos of you… make it appear that you have amnesia…. By wearing those dumb furs in a heat wave, you’re making yourself a target.” Gaga responded in turn, “For those press and such who are writing about whether or not my fur is actually real, please don’t forget to credit the designer HERMES. Thank you! Love, gaga.” Cruel or not, clearly nobody told the pop star that it’s August. [DListed]
