These have been productive times for Yoko Ono. Her 2009 album Between My Head and the Sky was her best solo effort for years, and saw her reactivate the Plastic Ono Band name for the first time since her 1973 record, Feeling the Space. Cornelius, Yuka Honda of Cibo Matto and her son Sean Lennon all contributed to that record, and now Ono is calling on further big names to help her flesh out an L.A. show.
The Plastic Ono Band concert will take place at the Orpheum Theater on Oct. 1 and 2, and will feature contributions from Lady Gaga, Iggy Pop, Vincent Gallo, RZA, Kim Gordon, Thurston Moore, actress Carrie Fisher, and more. Yes, the possibility of Princess Leia jamming with RZA and Lady GaGa has suddenly become a distinct possibility.
More details on the event, including ticket details, are available via this link. Moore and Gordon are both listed as appearing on the same day as Gaga—perhaps a re-imagining of the Ciccone Youth project could be on the cards once that particular meeting of minds occurs. Gaga Youth, anyone?
