Lady Gaga was busy tweeting pictures of her Thanksgiving over the holidays, but activities like that are set to come to an abrupt halt if Alicia Keys has her way. Keys has set up a campaign asking Gaga, Justin Timberlake and Usher to stop using social networking applications and websites from tomorrow (Nov. 30) until $1milllion has been raised for her Keep A Child Alive charity.
The campaign is titled Digital Life Sacrifice, and will also involve Elijah Wood, Jennifer Hudson and Serena Williams. "Once I got people on the phone and I was able to paint the concept for them, everybody was in,” said Keys. A “last tweet and testament” video has been filmed by each participant in an attempt to raise interest in the campaign.
Naturally, all of these stars could easily raise $1million between themselves and it would feel like pocket change to them, but presumably Keys is hoping this will raise wider awareness of her charity, which aims to provide treatment and support for families affected by HIV and AIDS.
