Woven Hand @ Silverlake Lounge, 4/10If you don't already believe that your lord is a wrathful lord, Woven Hand (aka David Eugene Edwards, frontman of 16 Horsepower) should sort that all out for you. Like fellow man of god Nick Cave, Edwards' religiosity is an embattled religiosity, suffused with both deep devotion and intense fear. You can hear it in his dark narratives; you can hear it in the dusty, mystical southwestern sound world in which he couches them; and most of all, you can hear it in his voice, a lucid, powerful thing equal parts husky folk troubadour, gospel preacher and rock '''n roll sinnerman.
