L.A. Today: The Thermals

The Thermals @ The Echo

If you'd caught Portland garage rock group The Thermals back when they were touring behind their debut, More Parts Per Million, you might notice that a few things have changed since then. Ben Barnett (Kind of Like Spitting) no longer plays guitar for them, and Jordan Hudson no longer has drumming duties. Eventually resulting from the changes was the band's third record The Body, the Blood, the Machine, the subject of great critical praise and a project entirely taken on by remaining founding members Hutch Harris and Kathy Foster. Harris and Foster won't have to worry about filling in every nook and cranny now that their drummer's been replaced, but with his current guitar duties, Harris should no longer be hopping around with his microphone, unsure of what to do with himself - a shame, as the hopping was oddly charming and this show's taking place just before Easter. Bring the kids and a basket of eggs! (CB)
