L.A. Today: The Horrors
The Horrors/Nurses/Airborne Toxic Event @ The Echo, 3/19

The last L.A. saw of The Horrors was a visit back in November, when the group was just starting to build on the hype of their debut EP. The band was more a crop of characters than anything else '' in terms of appearance, they'''re collectively a live-action version of an Edward Gorey ink drawing. In terms of talent, they put on an expectedly dark, destructive show, strobe lights and noose, ''"Every day is Halloween when you'''re a Horror,''" etcetera, etcetera. But they were the Birthday Party minus a sense of humor, and if there was any humor in them, it was masked by their fashion sense and a delivery unmarked by irony. 6'''7''" front man Faris ''"Rotter''" Badwan screamed elegantly and organist Spider Webb hung himself god knows how many times over. Such is possible when you'''re undead and capable of withstanding multiple hangings. Now that The Horrors finally have a full-length to their name, its inclusion of 80% of their EP suggests that not much will have changed between November and now, and chances are, you'''ll witness a hanging, a shriek, or twenty of each.
