Paris Loves L.A. @ Bordello, 3/8That whole "Americans hating the French" thing that flared up a few years ago when France didn't believe Iraq was worth getting involved in militarily (pretty prescient in retrospect, no?) was always over-fluffed up bunk. Many Americans have long had a love affair with things a francaise: the pretty girls, with their alluring language, especially when they coo sweet songs. If you count yourself amongst that camp, the duo Paris love L.A. is definitely for you. The twosome consists of French actress and singer Adele Jacques and American pianist Russell Roy Rinker. Together they cover the songs of the legendary guy/girl coupling of Serge Gainsbourg and Brigitte Bardot (and speaking of French fantasies, what guy wouldn't have wanted to be Gainsbourg, with his coterie of cute chanteuses always hanging around?). If all of this isn't sexy enough already, their concert takes place in the newly opened downtown hotspot Bordello. Owned and operated by L.A. nightclub impresario Tony Gower, the man also responsible for the Derby, Bordello exists in a space that, according to legend, actually used to be a house of ill repute. It's decked out accordingly, all lush interiors and glittering chandeliers. Tre sexi!(JZ)
