L.A. Today: Fu Manchu @ Troubadour

Fu Manchu @ Troubadour, 4/12
From what I understand, bloggers and internet scribes can attain Jedi status by doing something often referred to as going "meta." For those of you that don't suck from the teat of Chuck Klosterman, meta is often "used to characterize something that is characteristically self-referential" (urbandictionary.com). For example: I am currently writing a blurb about writing a blurb, thus epitomizing all things meta. The same could be said for referring to Fu Manchu's fuzz rock legacy by utilizing their lyrics. I believe it would be even more meta, however, if I were to employ lyrics of another band when describing the Southern California quartet and their iconoclastic fanbase. Well, look no further.
Have you been sleeping 'neath the freight train?
Slippin' through the Vaseline?
Where did you get that greazy moustache?
The kind that leaves a pillow stain
Well, you been hanging out at night school
With your lower lip hangin' cool
Trying to earn that master's degree
To prove you ain't a goddamn fool
-- Drunk Horse, 1999

Officially meta, I am. (ZH)Find out what else is happening in Los Angeles tonight at Prefix L.A. Events!
